Falstaff Winemaker of the Year 2024
Renowned gourmet magazine Falstaff recently crowned us “Winemaker of the Year 2024”! To mark the occasion, the magazine reviewed how Domäne Wachau has developed in recent years — from a unique cooperative concept to the sustainable craftsmanship of our vignerons.
Over the course of the past two decades, Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber have made far-reaching changes to the structure at Domäne Wachau, including many improvements in sustainability that have helped “drive the estate to the peak of the wine world,” writes Peter Moser, Falstaff’s lead editor for wine. However, our 200 vignerons are the most important part of Domäne Wachau, they work the small-scale steep terraces of the Wachau with a great deal of experience and care. Their dedication and expertise have helped our wines — each an individual expression of the unique terroir of the Wachau — find praise from the international press and a following among aficionados worldwide.
